Fireboy and Watergirl are joining forces to explore all kinds of magical temples in search of precious diamonds. In these element-themed platform adventure games, your goal is to help them work together. Collect the gems and reach the exit.
Both characters need to use their elemental powers to make it through the maze-like levels. Fireboy can move through lava and collect the red gems, but he must avoid the water. Watergirl can wade through the pools of water and collect the blue gems, but she can't touch the lava.
There are currently six games in the series. You can play all of them for free on our website:
Fireboy and Watergirl in the Forest Temple is the first game in the series. Originally released on November 19, 2009. This updated version was released on May 24, 2018.
Fireboy and Watergirl 2: Light Temple introduces a new mechanism to the puzzles. Activate sliding doors and platforms by turning the mirrors to redirect the laser beams.
Fireboy and Watergirl 3: Ice Temple features a frozen temple covered in snow and ice. This will affect our elemental heroes differently. In addition, you can use the heat and freeze beams to melt ice and freeze water.
Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple introduces color-coded magical portals. Look carefully to determine which two portals are linked.
Fireboy and Watergirl 5: Elements brings together all the puzzle elements from previous chapters. Our heroes will also explore two new locations: the temples of Water and Fire.
Fireboy and Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales features a temple populated by tiny fairies. Players can control these fairies and fly them to the color coded fairy lanterns to open the doors.
Make Fireboy run and jump with the arrow keys, and move Watergirl using the WASD-keys. Push the levers and buttons to open secret doorways and activate the elevators. Both characters need to make it to the right exit alive to complete the level. The symbols on the doors will show you where each character needs to go.
Yes, even though the games are designed for local co-op play, you can also play them alone.
By sharing the keyboard on a single computer, one player can control Fireboy, while the other plays as Watergirl. You don't need to change the settings to play alone. The controls stay the same.
At the moment, playing Fireboy and Watergirl online with friends on different computers is not yet possible.
Some levels in the games have a time limit. You don't have to complete the level within the time, but you can earn bonuses if you finish quickly. The time limits vary per level, but are always shown in the game.
Work together
It can be difficult to complete the levels quickly if you play alone. You have to control both characters at the same time to manage it. Playing together with a friend makes it easier to make it to the exit within the time limit.
Plan ahead
You'll need to communicate clearly. This might take a practice round. Study the maze carefully and figure out who's going push what button or lever. In part 6, you'll also need to decide who's going to move the fairies.
If you like the Fireboy and Watergirl series, here are some other platformers and 2-player games we recommend.
For another puzzle-based platformer series with more maze-like levels, try Bob the Robber. In the fifth chapter, Bob explores an ancient temple too: Bob the Robber 5: Temple Adventure.
We also have another series in which you can work together with a friend to control two characters. For example, in the Money Movers games, you need to help two brothers escape from jail.
