Operate Now: Eardrum Surgery

Operate Now: Eardrum Surgery is a realistic surgery game in which you are the surgeon! Today, you’ll help a patient with a dangerous cyst building up inside his ear.

Bradley has come to the hospital with an ear ache and dizziness. A CT scan reveals that he has a cholesteatoma - a type of cyst that is growing behind his eardrum.

If left untreated, this can cause a lot of serious problems: it can erode the small bones inside your ear that you need for hearing. It can even cause serious damage to the facial nerve and the base of the skull!

There’s no time to waste! Bradley needs surgery. You’ll be using an endoscope, a laser scalpel, and other cool surgical tools to remove the cyst!

How to play Operate Now: Eardrum Surgery?

This game has two game modes. During the first round, you play the game as a surgical intern. Follow realistic step-by-step instructions to help your patient. The OR nurse, Lara, will tell you what you need to do.

Before you can start the operation, you have to carry out a CT scan to see what is causing Bradley’s earache and dizziness. Once you have confirmed the cause, you can head to the operating room.

To operate, tap on the right surgical instruments to pick them up. Then tap on the areas marked with green circles to perform the right actions. You’ll have to make an incision behind Bradley’s ear.

Use a medical drill to create a small hole in the mastoid part of the temporal skull bone. Insert the endoscope camera through this hole, so that you can get a good view of the cholesteatoma.

With a pair of conquest scissors and a surgical laser, you can carefully remove the cyst in two stages. Lastly, use the needle and surgical thread to suture the incisions shut.

Unlocking Expert Mode

Once you’ve successfully completed this surgery, you unlock the expert mode. Now you can try carrying out the operation by yourself, without any instructions! Do you remember how to do it exactly the right way?
